Thanks, Wes, yes, things were definitely tougher because I'm 77 now! I so hate to admit it, I think it's just a number and one is as old as one feels. Well, my body feels differently from "me". Where are you heading from/to?
Dear Jessica, Wowza! In the past two months I drove my little Honda over 3,000 miles from NM to Minnesota, Canada, Wisconsin and Iowa and then back to Silver City. A U-Haul multiplies the hardship, indeed. Twice my windshield was wrecked from flying rocks off of semis, and yes, the roads are atrocious. Best wishes to you on your new adventure, happy you arrived safely.
Lynne -- Wowza back at you! I guess one good thibg about a U-Haul is that one sits way higher, thus preventing broken windshields... Thank you for your good wishes. It takes a while to decompress and settle in.
Thank you very much Jessica for keeping us updated. It was so good to read from you, happy that you made it ! So sorry you got very bad weather, and the uncomfortable U-Haul truck over such a long drive ! You are very brave, an amazing Lady. Take time to relax and get the rest you deserve 👍😉😊
I appreciate your kind wishes! Yes, I'm still in a "take it easy" phase; so what if most of my stuff is still in boxes in the garage. I have all the essentials and am taking it one step at the time! The next step is to connect my desktop computer to the internet, because I can't work well on a laptop and want to get back to writing my articles 😉.
Yes, Max was/is such a trooper! Twelve years old, was born and linved his life in New Mexico until now. From about 7000 feet to almost sea level, close to 3000 miles away -- and he takes it all in with his good nature.
We're moving from Colorado after ten years here up in the mountains to Connecticut. We'll be close to our son and his wife and a lot of friends and family much closer. It's been nice here. I found the land in 2005 and we started a cabin on it in 2008 and came out every year to work on it until we moved here in 2015. Also, the 6 month winters are rough in length. Way to go!
Glad you arrived safely!
Thank you, Mary, me too! At times I felt like I was losing my mind.
Happy you are with Zöe. Bravo for you!!
Whew, Susan, I'm glad to be with Zoe, too. And without her meeting me in Kansas City I wouldn't have made it, I'm sure. Hope you're doing well!
Way to go Jessica. We will be doing the exact thing in July of 2025. As we get older these things are tougher. Pat yourself on the back.
