As you said recently, all empires pass and administrations too. I wonder if the GOP people noticed how effortlessly and seamlessly Kamala conceded the race and not once mentioned a rigged election. I'm stepping away from closely watching/reading politics for a while.

I don't think the GOP people will notice anything that might lead them to question their allegiance to a fascist system. They're too brainwashed. For a LOOONG time. "If the majority of people became politically, economically, and environmentally conscious about matters of inequality and wealth -they might reject the obedient blind hyper-consumerism necessary to fuel the inequalities inherent in the American system, and necessary to preserve the concentration of wealth." The machinations to prevent this started BEFORE Regan. https://bomdia.substack.com/p/still-we-rise This Substack is highly informative -- I recommend it! Better than mainstream media. Have fun in Mexico!

Thanks Jessica, I'll check it out. The US doesn't know it, but we ARE the evil empire that we always accuse others of being.

There's the Powell Memo from 1971 ; https://reclaimdemocracy.org/powell_memo_lewis/

I think it was/is HUGELY influential in GOP think tanks. It's THE textbook for lulling people asleep, stopping independent thinking, being critical. It's tough to create something similar without using lies and misinformation, but the Democrats must address this, I think. Of course, the biggest hurdle is money -- the lust for it, greed. How can one make human decency desirable? I don't know.

Just read it. Written during the heyday of pushing smoking, sugar, meat, dairy, suppressing cannabis, big oil, big auto. Also, military/industrial complex was really cranking up in Vietnam. There is so much to dislike and hate in here, I don’t even know where to begin. thanks

When we lived in small communities decency was part of our mutually beneficial survival but since we have begun congregating in cities another kind of "quality" is successful, sneakery and cheating and lying which you can't pull off every day in a small community. I'll read the Powell memo. thanks

Yes. Don't give them the power to make you feel overwhelmed or defeated. You/we are NOT different from the way we were on November 4. We still have the same values to live by.
