Thanks for pointing out the cognitive dissonance from people who think young dogs and cats are cute and sacred, but young pigs and goat are food to be killed without remorse. Even after pointing out, the mental gymnastics they perform to justify it, is just sad. Why is this so hard to understand? I just don't get it.
I know, it doesn't make sense. People can put feelings, thoughts, etc in different corners so they never meet, and they don't notice the contradiction -- most often because of habits, I think. How can this be addressed? Important question; I don't have the answer.
One of my favorite TV shows explained this the best: People will do morally questionable things if the consequences of their actions are far removed. (Just the first 1 min. Its hilarious, but true)
Watch from 00:53 to 1:38. It’s funny, but there is a deeper truth about society not willing to look at the consequences of its actions, even if they know it well.
Thanks for sending a link that works -- it is spot-on! AND funny. But it's so true, when people buy meat in the supermarket, it doesn't look like an animal any more, no blood, no face, so it's easy to ignore the fact that it IS an animal that WAS a living being. Cognitive dissonance.

It truly saddens me that people put their taste for bacon above the welfare and life of a living animal...
Absolutely. And I think for many there is this cognitive disconnect -- they care about animals AND eat them. Sad indeed.
