In less than two weeks I’ll be driving a moving truck across the country from New Mexico to Massachusetts. Hopefully, by then I’ve found a loving home for two of my doggies that I can’t bring along – which breaks my heart. And found a place for at least a thousand books that I don’t need any more. And got rid of lots of unnecessary furniture. And… and… and.
I may never return to New Mexico, so this seems like a good time to share some of the gorgeous landscapes and sights.
Bisti /De-Na-Zin Wilderness Area
A desolate area of badlands, with bizarre formations of hoodoos, pinnacles, spires, and other unusual forms.
Bandelier National Monument
Located near Los Alamos, this is the site of ancestral pueblo homes dating back some 11,000 years.
Chaco Culture National Historical Park
This was an urban center of impressive proportions, with “suburbs” reaching as far away as 155 miles. Some 30,000 to 40,000 people are supposed to have inhabited the whole region, with a few thousand residing in the great houses in the center. These were impressive multi-storied structures, up to four stories high, some with balconies, and some with 600 and 800 rooms.
Albuquerque Balloon Fiesta
A yearly hot air balloon festival taking place every October.
Santa Fe
This is only a small selection of the many amazing sights here. I’ll miss the area — an amazing home for 23 years.
aw - I bet you'll visit again - I know not the same thing but still fun,

Good luck, Jessica, with your move. I know you will miss NM, but how nice it will be to live near your daughter!
Thanks so much for all your contributions to your community! I'll continue to look forward to your posts.🌻
