Jessica, I recently read “The Soul of an Octopus”, it was really eye opening view into the giant Atlantic octopus. Intelligence bordering on telepathic. I used to catch them when I was a child in Greece and kill and eat them I am ashamed to say. Never again, that’s for sure. Thanks.
Oh, I love this book! Sy Montgommery approaches them with empathy, feels with them, that's why one learns so much, I think. And yes, I have similar bad memories from Japan, I didn't catch or kill them, but certainly ate them, although I didn't even particularly like them. I ate so many animals, also when I was a kid. The important part: never again.
