The human mind can very easily devolve into an inhuman one.

Yes. There's a thin layer of culture and civilization which can rapture under certain circumstances. I trust we can work on making it stronger.

I've given thought to what jobs I simply could not do, no matter my circumstances. I never considered prison guard, but I'm with you--don't think I could do it. I already know I could never work in a slaughterhouse. Yes, I would rather starve.

I'd like to see that experiment repeated with women. I suspect the outcome would be different, but again, you have to consider the kind of people who would volunteer for an experiment like that in the first place.

I so agree about slaughterhouse jobs -- I, too, would rather starve. About women and the experiment, one would hope there are fewer women with sadistic tendencies, but they exist. There were some pretty nasty female concentration camp wardens.

Well written timely piece. With US prisons owned by private corporations I think they are for-profit. What a setup for a perfect storm in our backyards. I'm not scared just weary of our flawed 2 party system. Hopeful and still favoring the Great Love/Light that is the Universe.

Thank you, Anna. Yes, for-profit prisons are despicable. And yes, let's nurture our trust in the Universe, maybe that's all one can do ultimately 😍.

I just watched the documentary "Navalny", https://www.imdb.com/title/tt17041964, it's streaming on Prime Video/MAX. It's as suspenseful as any political thriller, but much more poignant because it's all true. And it's upsetting and shocking because he was just murdered.
