Yes, yes, yes! Cillian Murphy is such an acting genius! I just love him!
I'm usually content to wait until I can stream a movie and watch in the comfort of my living room at a comfortable volume and room temperature. But I'm thinking I will go see Oppenheimer in the theater this week. I just have to remember to take my earplugs!
The sound in the theater is usually so loud, that I find I can hear better if I wear those little foam earplugs. They don't completely block the sound, but just dampen it a bit. Just my idiosyncrasy, I guess. Maybe I have hearing like Superman, haha!
thanks for the movie reviews / enjoyable / but oh my disco pigs might be too much for my sensitive constitution / ha / did just see oppenheimer on the big screen and loved it / i'm glad this movie has happened / it's timely / or maybe just in time / culture changes slowly but it's from all these various sources of creative energy that change does come / and i do have amazon prime : )
I had to look up what gender bender movies are, and learned that the #1 gender bender movie is "Some Like It Hot", one of my all time favorites! I guess we have differing movie tastes 😉.
Murphy should have won an Oscar for "The Wind That Shakes the Barley" ... The scene of his execution at the end of the movie has haunted me since the moment I saw it. It is the most realistic image of a person facing an early, violent death I've ever seen.
I agree. Compared to the typical Hollywood actors and Oscar winners, he towers WAY above. But as a European, growing up with Fellini and Bergman etc., I'm a bit of a film snob. It took me a while to warm up to Hollywood, and much of the popular fare leaves me cold.
Don't know how I was ignorant of Disco Pigs! Just watched the trailer on IMDb. Now on to the your topic. Having lived a decade+ on shared ground with Los Alamos I went there often. I walked the passages of Fuller Lodge, and the city sidewalks, to discover a lovely small city. My IQ was points higher during each visit. 🤣 A trip to the lodge can gobsmack those unprepared for a real log castle/fortress/campus. The main thoroughfare is named Oppenheimer. Museums are scientific schools there. The closest ski runs are there. A city ice rink has a stunning locale. Not to mention a fabulous drive on Hwy 4 west to Jemez and east to Santa Fe. Oppenheimer must've had a healthy school experience there. I'm sorry he had to lead such fine minds to uncover the magic of the atom. Problematic funding for the nastiest weapon ever. The campus of Los Alamos Lab is bustling with
I often went hiking around Hwy4, Valles Caldera; absolutely gorgeous. Never made it to Jemez Springs! Maybe when my daughter is here we'll drive to Los Alamos and then continue to Jemez Springs. Must be so beautiful.
With students and research. I live in a small town with closest cinemas over an hour drive. Hope to see it when I visit family in DFW. Jessica, your posts bring me out to comment. THX 🙏🍌♎🕯️🥳,!!

Isn't he just fantastic. I hope you'll enjoy the movie! But earplugs? How will you hear the dialogue?

That makes total sense, and I should try this too. I don't like loud noise either.
