You're brave to do the research to expose these crimes. Humanity's worth is measured by the way we treat our fellow earthlings. Our score is dismal. Rescue work is imperative. Great horse rescue in NM at Tamaya Resort, started by lady in San Ysidro where she keeps a pen at her feed store. Great no kill animal rescue in Rio Rancho called Watermelon Mountain Ranch, with adoption centers in their thrift stores. If anyone does know of a dog/cat rescue group in NE TEXAS I'm in need of some volunteer work! Trying to make the best of living here.😊😞❤️ Are you still in Coyote? Hope so. Keep smiling 😁 and writing here. Luv LUV luv from your friend.

Wow, so you're in Texas... NE: when I look at a map, not too far from NM? I hope you found a place you like and will love. I found this group in Mt.Pleasant: https://netrescueorganization.com/

They rescue animals from the local kill-shelter.

Thanks for the rescues/no kill shelters you mention -- I'll check them out.

Yes -- I'm still in Coyote. Deadline to vacate the house is September 30. Still no definitive plans... 🙄

Lotta LUV to you, too! 😍💝💖

THX for the rescue info. Mt Pleasant is south of Bogota, our new little town. I'm happy here for now. Hope your home finds you soon! 🕯️❤️

just the other day my neighbor called me and asked if i could sponsor 2 dogs that had been abandoned / someone called them in to animal control and they picked them up but were going to euthanize them if nobody adopted them / she ended up caring for them herself but it's a big problem / other organizations have a no kill policy but not the city apparently

I just had a look. If you call Animal Care Services, belonging to the city government, they DO kill -- after THREE days! With an updated "Capacity Euthanasia List" https://www.sanantonio.gov/acs/ACS_website_euth_capacity.pdf. But the San Antonio Humane Society shelter is No Kill. https://sahumane.org/no-kill-shelter. And the Animal Defense League of Texas, located in San Antonio, is No Kill. https://adltexas.org/about-us/our-mission/. So, don't call ACS. Find out if there are rescues that pull the animals on the Kill list, to save them.

nice work / that was my understanding too / unfortunately the neighbor who called it in didn't seem to know that

Here in NM Animal Control doesn't have their own facilities and deliver rescued animals to the Humane Society shelter in Santa Fe. At least, that's what I've witnessed. Maybe your Animal Care Services HAVE to take rescued animals to their own facilities, owned by the city. I'd call the Humane Society and ask what to do if one finds an animal that needs help but one doesn't want them to end up in the kill-shelter.

That is so effing horrible. It all depends on the attitude of the shelter's leadership, I think -- if they make an effort to find permanent homes, if they work with the community to find fosters, they don't HAVE to kill them after a few days. The shelter in Santa Fe also tries to kill as little as possible. Maybe try to find out more about the San Antonio shelter -- who is in charge, do they have volunteers/fosters, etc. Sometimes it's a cushy job for somebody who just wants the money but doesn't care much otherwise.

very nice / thank you for that

i just had a sobering experience driving down broadway

there was a dog running down the sidewalk at top speed / at the limit of his strength

it looked odd / there was nobody around and he had no collar but it was like he was running for all he was worth and i just had the premonition that he (or she) had been abandoned and was trying to re-unite with it's master / she crossed the street (successfully thankfully) and i lost sight of her

i don't know her story but there are lots of abandoned dogs and cats wandering around / some get euthanized / sad

Oh no... I'm so sorry. I bet a big city is very dangerous for animals without a home. The traffic, for one thing. Do you have a decent shelter? A Humane Society? The one we have here (in Espanola) is very decent, they try very hard to find permanent homes for all the critters. I hope the dog is okay.
