It reminds me of some Southern dishes. When we visited my paternal grandmother around Thanksgiving, there'd usually be 4 people, but she cooked like she was making holiday dinner for Genghis Khan's Mongolian hordes !
TRUE ENOUGH, but some of the ones that I've met had kids at 25 - 30, their kids had grandkids, & some of the grandmothers enjoy trail - biking, PARASAILING, free - climbing, etc. & they're extremely tech - savvy.
My paternal grandma was completely FLUMMOXED by our touch - tone phone back in the 70's, poor lady.
Grandparents these days are younger, hipper and more involved than ever before. Many of them are more likely to be playing Nintendo Wii with their grandchildren than sitting in the corner knitting. They may be retired but they've taken on a new business, they travel.
Also grandparents don’t always live in the same community as their grandchildren. In order to stay connected, grandparents must become creative. There are several different ways to stay in touch. Many use texting, apps, FaceTime, WhatsApp and Skype to keep the lines of communication open.
That said, consistent interaction with grandparents will continue to enrich the lives of children.
Interesting discussion. But Jessica, I’m sorry to hijack your thread ! Please accept my apologies.
Absolutely no apologies necessary, I'm happy when there's a lively discussion. Plus, this is the first time I've heard about poutine, I looked up some vegan recipes, and it sounds so delicious! I'll have to try my own version and will post it here. Thank you, Olivier and Daniel!
hey how did the squirrels get in the house ??
Oh, they are polite and knock at the door! I'm thinking of installing squirrel-doors so I don't always have to open them. 😉
great idea !! i have a kitty door that the cats use and sometimes the raccoons
That's the spirit 😊
I celebrate both Canadian & US Thansgiving when I can because I have some Canadian acquaintances / friends. Is poutine a good Thanksgiving dish ?
Why not ? Poutine is one of the most famous Canadian dishes and one of the easiest to make!
