yes of course i agree and so would most people but (to beat a broken drum) the answer is in people becoming more aware and starting with themselves / if we can see our own humanity then we can begin to see it in other people too and if we can see it in other people we might begin to see that spark of life in our fellow animal friends / the sacred spark of life is our commonality and maybe we need to talk about that otherwise everything is just too dark and depraved
I think people should be more aware of everything they share with other creatures and beings, our humanity is too often seen as something special, exceptional, even better or superior. Yes, we share the spark of life, we share interiority, we share having a world view -- although other creatures' worldview might be radically different from that of humans. They're ALL valid, but humans assume theirs is the correct/only/true one. That's a fallacy.
it's just that pointing out these horrible things never really changes anything / people who don't want to see it won't / people who do see it already pretty much know about it / a different strategy is needed
Sorry, but I don't agree. My mother used to wear fur coats, and I thought that was okay. I went to the circus and to zoos and thought it was okay. I didn't think much about mice being used in laboratories, that's just the way it was. I changed my views because I learned what was really going on, I read about it or somebody talked about it. That's what helped me change.
